Christopher Lucier Tenor

Praised as a “stand-out” by the New York Times, tenor Christopher Lucier is in increasing demand as an operatic and concert artist.  2016's operatic season began with a "wonderfully sung" RIGOLETTO (Duca) with Hubbard Hall Opera.  For the fourth consecutive year he brought his original hour of opera and comedy to Southern New England along with Salt Marsh Opera.  Over the past several years, Chris has shared this exciting introduction to opera with over 5,000 children in more than 100 performances.  His 2014-15 Season began with the American premiere of Nancy Van de Vate's ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT  with  Metro Chamber  Orchestra in which he assumed the central role of Paul.  He followed this up with a “funny and touching” performance of L’ELISIR D’AMORE (Nemorino) with Resonance Works Pittsburgh. He also was featured in GIANNI SCHICCHI (Gherardo) with Salt Marsh Opera and TURANDOT (Pong) with Metro Chamber Orchestra. He joined the Weston Opera House for the world premiere of Nolan Gasser’s THE SECRET GARDEN (Dickon) and Connecticut Lyric Opera for IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA (Almaviva) and DER KAISER VON ATLANTIS. (Harlekin)   As a young artist at Ash Lawn Opera, Chris was featured in SUSANNAH (Sam/ Elder Hayes) and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (1st Russian.)  During the 2012-13 season, he appeared in Resonance Works' production of Verdi's MACBETH (Macduff), DON PASQUALE (Ernesto) with Cape Cod Opera, LA TRAVIATA (Alfredo) with Hubbard Hall Opera Theater, DON GIOVANNI (Don Ottavio) and CARMEN (Remendado) with Connecticut Lyric Opera, and CENERENTOLA (Ramiro) with Salt Marsh Opera.  He was hailed as “commanding” as the tenor soloist in the VERDI REQUIEM with the Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra, presented concerts throughout Iowa as a Simon Estes Young Artist, and won the 2012 Amici Vocal Competition - professional division in Clinton, CT.  He also joined Pittsburgh Opera Theatre to appear in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN (Spalanzani, Hoffmann Cover) and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Mr. Erlanson). Previous opera credits include OTELLO (Roderigo), THE CRUCIBLE (Danforth), L’ENFANT PRODIGUE (Azael), LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (Don Basilio) declared to be “consistently amusing” by Opera News, and Lee Hoiby’s SUMMER AND SMOKE (Roger Doremus).  The Albany Records recording of the Hoiby performance was named by Opera News as one of the 10 best Opera Recordings of 2011.
